Manchester United's Amad has said goodbye to Rangers after his loan spell in Scotland.
Rangers signed Amad on a six-month loan in the January transfer window. United were keen for Amad to continue his development in British football and the move to Rangers promised first-team minutes at senior level, but the loan didn't go to plan.
Although Amad scored within five minutes of his debut for Rangers in a stellar first impression, he failed to win a starting spot under manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Amad played just 500 minutes at Rangers and made just four starts.
OPINION: Mike Phelan is giving Erik ten Hag something he needs at Manchester United this summer.
However, the loan has given Amad experience of being around a first-team environment and he was named on the bench as Rangers lost on penalties to Frankfurt in the Europa League earlier this month, before he started in the Scottish Cup final.
Amad was brought off after 60 minutes in that match and Rangers eventually went on to win the fixture in extra time. There has been speculation that Amad could return to Rangers on loan, but the youngster said his goodbyes to the club on Saturday.
"Thanks guys it was a pleasure to be part of your beautiful trip...wish you all the best," Amad wrote.
Erik ten Hag was unveiled at Old Trafford this week and Amad could yet feature in Dutchman's first-team plans. The MEN revealed in March that no decision would be made on Amad's future ahead of Rangnick's permanent successor being appointed.
Amad is contracted at United until the summer of 2025, with the option of an additional year.
