Erik ten Hag insists he is happy with the progress Mason Mount has made so far at Manchester United and has hinted that he could be selected to face City this weekend.
The 24-year-old was United's first signing of the summer, joining the club from Chelsea in a deal that was initially worth £55million. The fee could eventually rise to £60m because of performance-related add-ons.
Ten Hag was determined to strengthen his midfield options with a younger and more dynamic operator and earmarked Mount as the ideal candidate, but despite the billing he has experienced a slightly slow start to life at his new club.

Mount has only started six matches for United, though he did miss five through injury and was an unused substitute as United defeated Copenhagen in midweek.
The former Chelsea midfielder has yet to deliver a standout performance in a United shirt since arriving at the club, but Ten Hag is happy with what he has seen so far from the summer signing.
Asked if the clash with City this weekend could be the ideal fit for Mount's style of play, the United manager told reporters: "I think in every game, our game would benefit from Mason Mount.
"So I don't have any concern to line him up. He did come on in a lot of games; he started in a lot of games. Last games he didn't, but he is definitely one we will consider for Sunday. As you said, he has abilities that can be very helpful against City."
