Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole believes Harry Kane could struggle to break Alan Shearer's record of 260 Premier League goals, if he seals a move to Old Trafford.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker, who plundered his 20th goal of the season in all competitions during Spurs' 2-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday, is attracting interest from United ahead of the summer transfer window. As reported by the Manchester Evening News last month, the Reds are monitoring his situation at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Kane is out-of-contract in June 2024 and is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal in north London, meaning Spurs, if presented with a tempting offer, could be forced to cash-in on the England captain this summer. United are set to prioritise the addition of a new striker ahead of next season and Kane is among their targets.

Many believe that the 29-year-old would guarantee United a glut of goals, such is the way he has banged them in for Tottenham and England in recent years, and boost their hopes of returning to the top step of English football. Kane has scored 201 Premier League goals during his career and is widely expected to surpass Shearer's tally of 260.
However, former United man Cole believes he could find it more difficult to break Shearer's record if he is to join United, suggesting that he could find it challenging to adjust to the Reds' way of playing.
