Guy Lodge Film Critic A total of 164 feature films will play at this year’s London Film Festival, alongside an abundance of shorts, TV series and an expanded program of XR (extended reality) works — and that’s in a comparatively slimmed-down era of curation for a public-facing festival that has long aimed to bring the best of the global festival circuit to non-traveling cinephiles. What has definitely grown is the LFF’s national reach: In what fest director Tricia Tuttle terms the festival’s “new normal” format after a few years of structural shifts and COVID-era adjustments, the capital-centered event will also be hosting screenings in 10 other cities around the U.K., from Manchester to Edinburgh to Belfast — sealing its status as the country’s preeminent film festival. A digital program of up to 20 titles will also be made available for online viewing, while short films and screen talks will be free to stream on the BFI Player platform: “It’s really important to us to get to those places we can’t reach with our venue partnerships,” says Tuttle, adding that their priority is “to give new audiences a taste of what the festival is like.”

The University of Bolton Stadium plays host to an explosive boxing card this Saturday as Lyndon Arthur and Nathan Gorman headline.
Wasserman Boxing bring their talented pool of fighters to Bolton as Manchester's Arthur and the heavyweight are the main events on the show, televised live on Channel 5.
For 'King Arthur', he returns to the ring for the first time since his KO defeat to Anthony Yarde in 2021 as he comes up against Walter Gabriel Sequeira. Gorman returns to the squared circle for his second fight of the calendar year but his opponent has yet to be announced.

Arthur was handed the first defeat of his professional career when Yarde atoned for his split decision defeat in 2020. The two-time English National Championships silver medallist will face the Argentine in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds.
‘The Alligator’ has won 17 of his 25 wins via knockout with just nine defeats to his professional boxing record.
"In the gym I have just been working on the small details that I think are necessary for me to improve. The focus has also been on sharpening them tools as well, taking my strengths and making them even more dangerous," said the 19-1 light heavyweight.
"It has been about developing my mindset as an athlete and myself as a boxer."
Gorman, the current IBF International Heavyweight Champion, returns to the ring after snatching the belt from Tomas Salek in June. The heavyweight stopped the Czech in round one via TKO to win the vacant IBF belt.
The card sees a number of domestic fights as part of the Wasserman card. Gavin Gwynne and Craig Woodruff come face-to-face in an all-Welsh battle for the British Lightweight belt.
