A man has suffered 'severe injuries' after falling 20 feet into a river in Bolton town centre.
Emergency services were called to the incident in the River Croal off St Edmund Street shortly before 2.30am today (Monday, July 5).
Residents in nearby flats had dialled 999 after hearing the man shouting for help.
Firefighters rescued the man, believed to be in his early 50s, from the fast-flowing river.
