A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a major crash involving five lorries on the M6. Emergency services raced to the collision on the northbound carriageway at around 4am on Tuesday (June 4).
The crash, which involved four HGVs and a tanker, caused the motorway to be closed off for a number of hours as police, fire crews and paramedics worked at the scene.
Drivers were urged to avoid the M6 between junctions 18 and 19 near Knutsford. Queues of up to 14 miles grew throughout the day amid the major recovery operation.
