Man dies after house explosion as police carry out investigation

A man injured in a house explosion has died in hospital, police have revealed.
He's been named as Nigel Barrow, 78, and police said his family are being supported by specialist officers as an investigation into the explosion continues. He died in hospital on Friday after the incident in New Mills, near Stockport.
Mr Barrow was airlifted to hospital from the scene of the blast on Ollersett Avenue in the Derbyshire town on Tuesday morning (November 14).

A huge emergency services response was scrambled to the street after the explosion, including police officers, firefighters, paramedics and the air ambulance. Neighbours in at least a dozen properties were evacuated, with some not able to return home until the following afternoon.
Police said at the time a joint investigation into the 'circumstances of the incident' was ongoing, however 'this is being delayed due to the structural damage to the property'. There is no risk to the community and all utilities have been made safe.
In an updated statement, Derbyshire Police said a further review of the scene would start on Monday.
The force said: "A man has died following an explosion at a house in New Mills.
"Emergency services were called to Ollersett Avenue just after 8am on Tuesday 14 November to reports of an explosion. Seventy-eight-year-old Nigel Barrow suffered life-threatening injuries during the incident and was taken to hospital where he died yesterday.
