Man City star Ilkay Gundogan's furious Champions League verdict amid talk of Super League return

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has already spoken out against the European Super League and Champions League reform amid the re-emergence of the breakaway competition.
Back in April 2021 when plans for a Super League were first announced, Gundogan took the opportunity to lambast the proposal, while he also criticised the amended format of Europe's premier club competition.
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville said on Thursday that plans to form a new Super League could be 'back on the table', news that's unlikely to go down well with Gundogan given his previous comments.

The 31-year-old voiced his displeasure at the changes to the Champions League during the original Super League fallout last year.
He tweeted in April 2021: "With all the Super League stuff going on... can we please also speak about the new Champions League format?
"More and more and more games, is no one thinking about us players? The new UCL format is just the lesser of the two evils in comparison to the Super League..."
Governing body UEFA have confirmed plans that will see 36 teams enter the Champions League as well as the group stages being replaced by one league table.
Furthermore, there will be 100 additional games where each time will play 10 games (five home and five away) with the top eight qualifying automatically for the knockout stages.
Those who finish ninth to 24th will then compete in a two-legged playoff in order to secure their qualification.
