While Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland have obviously commanded the interest of the Premier League champions, it is notable that a player such as Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka hasn't. The England international has so much going for him that should tempt the Blues into keeping tabs on him: his age, his skillset, his versatility, his nationality and his contract situation all fit the profile of the template that Txiki Begiristain uses for most of the club's business wherever possible.
The fact that Saka is not on City's radar for the future says less about Alvarez and Haaland than it does about the faith that the club has in homegrown talent Cole Palmer. A nagging injury brought a frustrating and premature end to Palmer's progress this season, but the level of performance he showed in the first half of the campaign has more than ever convinced the decision-makers at the club of his bright future in Manchester.

For next season, Palmer will take the Phil Foden route to first-team football of staying in Manchester close to Pep Guardiola in the first-team squad rather than going out on loan. That isn't to say he will always stay at the Etihad - but that is the intention of all parties.
