Now, having undergone scans, a small fracture of Ederson's eye socket has been revealed which has ruled him out of the Premier League fixture against West Ham and next week's FA Cup final vs Manchester United.
City's decision to keep Ederson on the pitch to play on for a short period was criticised by a head injury charity, however it is understood that he never lost consciousness and passed all medical protocols on the pitch at the time to rule out any concussion.
