A woman has told a murder trial of how she desperately tried to stem the alleged victim's bleeding while her kids fetched her towels. Jordan Brophy asked the mum if he was dying as she tended to the wounds on his head, neck and arm, the trial at Liverpool Crown Court heard on Wednesday.
Half brothers Karl Townsend and Jamie Cunningham are on trial for Mr Brophy's murder. The pair allegedly armed themselves with knives after being alerted by a Ring doorbell to a break-in at Mr Townsend's Halewood home on October 29 last year, Liverpool Echo reports.
Prosecutors allege that Mr Townsend and Mr Cunningham rushed to the property and attacked Mr Brophy in revenge for the botched burglary attempt at the house on Beechwood Avenue. Prosecutors say Townsend stabbed Mr Brophy in the head and arm, before twice knifing him in the face. One stab wound went through his left optic nerve, leaving a broken blade embedded in his brain, the trial heard.

Townsend and Cunningham left the scene, but then later returned, the court heard. Townsend then allegedly stabbed the "defenceless" 31-year-old in his jugular vein "out of revenge or punishment".
Richard Pratt, QC, prosecuting, has said Townsend does not dispute causing Mr Brophy's death but denies murder.
Today, the jury heard from neighbours who saw Mr Brophy in the street. Prosecutors say witnesses have described the moment Townsend inflicted the blow to his jugular.
