Man, 26, arrested for carrying knife and child abduction in Salford

A man has been arrested for carrying a knife and child abduction in a Salford suburb.
Police scrambled to Lee Street, in Higher Broughton, yesterday afternoon following reports that a man was carrying a ‘large knife’ in nearby Broughton Park. He was apprehended by cops.
Officers have since arrested and held the 26-year-old man on suspicion of the possession of a bladed article, making threats with a bladed article — and child abduction. He remains in custody at this time.

A statement from the force said: “We were called at around 3.50pm yesterday (16 October) to a report of a man with a knife on Lee Street, Salford. Officers attended and stop-searched a man on Rowan Way.
“A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of child abduction, possession of a bladed article, and making threats with a bladed article. He remains in custody for questioning as enquiries continue.”
