A reboot of the 1979 cult Punjabi classic, Maula Jat, Bilal Lashari’s The Legend of Maula Jatt is coming off of a record-breaking weekend for a Pakistan-made or Punjabi-language film. Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the U.S. ambassador on Saturday to express their "disappointment and concern" after President Joe Biden called Pakistan "one of the most dangerous nations in the world."  The president made the remark at a fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in Los Angeles while discussing Chinese President Xi Jinping.  "This is a guy who understands what he wants but has an enormous, enormous array of problems.

All 10 episodes of “Case 63” will drop on Oct. 25, exclusively on Spotify. In the show, Dr. Eliza Knight (Julianne Moore), a New York psychiatrist, begins treating a patient registered only as Case 63 (Isaac) — who claims to be a time traveler from the year 2062. The series is an adaptation of “Caso 63,” Spotify’s most-listened-to scripted original podcast in Latin America, produced in Santiago, Chile — the first non-English podcast the company has adapted into multiple languages for multiple markets. The conclusion to the original story of Pedro Roiter and Dra. Aldunate in “Caso 63” arrives Oct. 18, 2022, as the series returns for its third and final season in its Spanish and Portuguese versions.

Naman Ramachandran The long awaited “The Legend of Maula Jatt,” starring Pakistani superstars Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan (no relation), is set to release theatrically worldwide on Oct. 13. The Punjabi-language film, which is one of the biggest budgeted in the history of Pakistani cinema, is a reboot of Yunus Malik’s 1979 cult classic “Maula Jatt.” The film focuses on the legendary rivalry between local hero Maula Jatt and Noori Natt, the leader of a brutal gang. Director Bilal Lashari, whose debut feature “Waar” (2013) broke box office records in Pakistan, has reimagined the story for a global audience. The original “Maula Jatt” was released before Fawad Khan was born and his exposure to it was limited as his family spent several years away from Pakistan at the time it was gaining cult status.

Strictly Come Dancing stars, singer Matt Goss and his pro-dance partner Nadiya Bychkova, appeared on Good Morning Britain today (October 7). Presenter Kate Garraway announced the pair were coming up on the show but appeared to have some difficulty pronouncing Nadiya's last name as she attempted to read the segment teaser saying "it's Matt and his partner Nadiya Bychkova" and then covered her mouth and said: "Oops did I say that wrongly," as her co-host Ben began to laugh.

Naman Ramachandran Malala Yousafzai, who heads her own film and TV production company, Extracurricular Productions, is joining “Joyland,” Pakistan’s Oscar submission in the international feature category, as an executive producer. The film had its world premiere at Cannes earlier this year where it won the Queer Palm and the jury prize at the festival’s Un Certain Regard strand. It subsequently had its North American premiere at Toronto. It is currently playing at both the BFI London Film Festival, where it is competing for the Sutherland Award, which recognizes the most original and imaginative directorial debut, and the Busan International Film Festival, where it is in the A Window on Asian Cinema strand.
