EXCLUSIVE: Roadside Attractions and Vertical Entertainment have co-acquired North American rights to The Forgiven, a starry thriller written and directed by John Michael McDonagh (The Guard, Calvary), which premiered at the 2021 Toronto Film Festival. Roadside will release the film in theaters next spring, with Vertical handling its digital rollout.

Yossman Woodcut International has boarded “(K)nox: The Rob Knox Story,” a feature documentary about the tragic story of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” actor Robert Knox, who was stabbed to death at the age of 18.Woodcut will executive produce the film and act as worldwide distributor.Knox (picture above, left, alongside his mother Sally) had just finished filming for “Half-Blood Prince” in 2008 when he was stabbed in south-east London while protecting his younger brother.

In another big deal out of AFM, A24 has landed the domestic rights to Nicole Holofcener’s next film Beth & Don with Julia Louis-Dreyfus set to star. The pic will be written & directed by Holofcener and will begin shooting in early 2022. UTA Independent Film Group negotiated the sale of the rights to A24.
