Madonna‘s brother Anthony Ciccone‘s cause of death has been confirmed.
According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ on Sunday, the eldest brother of the A-List performer died due to throat cancer and respiratory failure. Specifically he battled oropharyngeal cancer, a type usually caused by smoking cigarettes. The 66-year-old was a smoker and the certificate notes tobacco use did contribute to his passing.

Anthony tragically passed away in late February. His relationship with Madge had been complicated for quite some time, but in the months leading up to his death it seemed like things were getting better between them. After his passing, the Like A Virgin songstress took to her Instagram Stories to share some vintage snaps of the pair, as well as to thank him for being a good brother to her and inspiring her over the years. It was also reported to PageSix the Queen of Pop was covering all of his rehab stay costs in the time leading up to his passing.

Aaron Carter's cause of death is now known. ET can confirm that the singer's primary cause of death was listed as drowning by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner.
Thania Garcia Aaron Carter’s death was caused by drowning and the effects of alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax, and inhaling difluoroethane, according to a copy of his autopsy report viewed by Variety on Tuesday. The manner of his death was ruled an accident by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, with the first cause of death cited as drowning and the second being difluoroethane — an ingredient used in cans of compressed air — along with Xanax. On Nov. 5 of 2022, officers responded to a call regarding a suspicious death at Carter’s residence, according to Alejandra Parra, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy. According to TMZ, it was his live-in housekeeper who discovered Carter unresponsive in his home and called authorities.
