The M3GAN universe is expanding!
There’s a sequel for M3GAN in the works already, but a spinoff movie has also been greenlit by Universal Pictures.
James Wan‘s Atomic Monster and Jason Blum‘s Blumhouse are teaming up again to develop the movie Soulm8te, which is being described as an erotic thriller.

The film follows “a man acquires an Artificially Intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife. In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate,” according to THR.
Kate Dolan will direct the film and she also rewrote the script. She previously directed 2021′s You Are Not My Mother.
“Fundamentally, I view this film as an exploration of relationships and loneliness,” Kate said in a statement. “Despite technological advances, there are enduring human truths we cannot escape, and I am looking forward to delving into those depths.”
The sequel to M3GAN is being released on June 27, 2025 and the upcoming Soulm8te movie will hit theaters on January 2, 2026.
