Joey Essex has made a surprising entrance to Love Island becoming the show's first celebrity bombshell.
The former TOWIE star, 33, is no stranger to finding love on TV, having previously dated TOWIE co-star Samantha Faiers, Stephanie Platt, whom he met on Celebs Go Dating, and Ex on the Beach's Lorena Medina. Joey and Sam sparked up a romantic relationship during the second series of TOWIE back in 2011, their on-again-off-again relationship spanned three years, with the pair becoming engaged following Joey's dramatic on-screen proposal.
However, the romance wasn't meant to last and they subsequently called time on the relationship during the cast trip to Marbella in 2014 During their three-year relationship, Joey and Sam were not afraid of showing off their romance, even sharing a rather explicit bedroom selfie on Instagram.
The snap saw a seemingly naked Sam straddling Joey, who had buried his head in her neck as they enjoyed a passionate embrace. Posting this racy photo on Instagram, Joey penned the caption: "One night means everything." Despite their rather over-the-top PDA, Sam ultimately labelled her ex "not amazing" in bed.
In her book Living Life The Essex Way, Sam wrote: "As for sex, I made Joey wait about five weeks. Our sex life was just OK.
Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad — he has a great body and he was very sweet — but he just seemed quite inexperienced, and it wasn’t amazing. "I want more from a man in bed." Rather awkwardly, the book was published in 2012, just before the pair rekindled their romance on-screen with a helicopter date.
