Love Island is set for a major revamp as it approaches its 10th anniversary in 2025.
The ITV dating show's producers are reportedly ready to quadruple their weekly budget to secure a new location beyond Majorca. A unique property "shaped like a UFO" located in Portugal's stunning Algarve region has been identified as an early favourite.
An ITV Studios team is scheduled to visit the property later this month.
The villa must meet certain requirements, including 65 metres of wardrobe space and signature features such as a large terrace garden, swimming pool, and a separate hideaway area. An insider revealed: "ITV Studios are scouting out properties for an unconfirmed forthcoming series and are prepared to splash out £20k a week on the right one.
They've got their eye on an incredible sprawling villa in the Algarve that is completely different to their more traditional current abode.
It's circular and really modern, and it's been used for a French reality show before so it's well set up for filming." This summer, Love Island will return to its current villa, Sa Vinyassa, located on the outskirts of Cala d'Or on the Balearic island which costs just £5,000 a week to rent.
The original villa in Ses Salines, an hour to the east, was sold in 2022 for £2.57million, reports the Mirror. All Stars and Winter Love Island are filmed at a sprawling £9,000-a-night mansion in the winelands outside Cape Town, South Africa.
The Love Island franchise, currently hosted by the stunning Maya Jama, is on the brink of uncertainty regarding its future beyond this year. Insiders have hinted that producers are keen to mark the show's 10-year milestone with a bang, despite a noticeable dip in viewership.
