Samie Elishi has provided an update for her 646K Instagram followers on her upcoming surgery, after discovering a 5cm lump on her thyroid. The 22 year old Love Island star, who recently split from co-star Tom Clare, has shared that she now has a date secured for the operation, posting a selfie and writing: "Thyroid update - we have a surgery date." While she did not reveal when it the date is, the surgery will remove half of her thyroid and discover whether the lump is cancerous or not. It was Love Island viewers and fans who spotted the lump in the first place, bombarding Samie's family and friends with messages whilst she was in the villa - which prompted her to get it checked upon leaving the villa.
Samie shared the surgery news during a YouTube video last week, where she also addressed her break-up from Tom. Explaining the health scare, she explained that it is a "5cm lump on my thyroid", before sharing that the medical professionals graded her lump a "grade 3," which means that they can't tell for sure if it's cancerous or not and it's a "grey area". "Basically what they do is they cut your neck...
I shouldn't be upset because I'm so grateful that people messaged and I've caught it now. I'm so grateful," she emotionally said of the surgery while tearing up. Continuing: "But it is still obviously really scary.
I'm a young girl, I'm realising how common it is now. I even saw Demi Jones went through it." If the lump is cancerous, Samie will need to undergo another operation to have the rest of her thyroid removed. While she has told fans she's going to share her journey because she wants to help others and it's "so important we all know about these things".The video was posted just days after her split from Tom was
