The new cases gave the county a total of 75,172.Meanwhile, another 33 deaths were reported by the county.

District Attorneys across the country have announced they’re declining to prosecute those who were arrested while protesting in the wake of George Floyd‘s tragic killing. Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey announced on June 8 that she will not file charges against any protester for a curfew violation or failing to disperse.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will no longer be enforcing curfews, Sheriff Alex Villanueva said on Thursday.

The ACLU of Southern California on Wednesday filed suit against the city and county of Los Angeles and the city of San Bernadino over the curfews imposed in the areas in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death. The suit was filed on behalf of Black Lives Matter Los Angeles and four individual plaintiffs.

Los Angeles County and several cities in the area extended curfew orders on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning as protests are again scheduled in some areas of Southern California. Los Angeles pushed back its curfew time from the 6 p.m.

While the protests in Los Angeles escalated to violence and vandalism over the weekend, murals honoring Kobe Bryant and his late daughter, Gianna, have largely remained untouched. As Vanessa Bryant shared on social media on Monday, even the one mural that was threatened by fire was saved from damage.

On a late afternoon conference call with the region’s law enforcement leaders, Los Angeles County Sheriff Villanueva told the Los Angeles Blade that there will be a “significant” presence of police and deputies at Sunset Blvd and Crescent Heights are tonight, even though the planned protest was cancelled. The protest coincides with a curfew in West Hollywood starting at 4:00PM

As cities across the nation reel from the juxtaposition of events related to the brutal murder of George Floyd amind a global pandemic, more stay at home curfew orders have been issue and West Hollywood has led the way for Los Angeles.

Los Angeles County on Sunday night enacted a countywide curfew amid protests over the death of George Floyd. Residents were alerted by a public safety alert on their mobile devices that the curfew had been put into place for 6 p.m.
