Los Angeles County Coronavirus Deaths, Cases Continue To Climb, Representing Half Of California’s Total

Michael Bay is poised to begin production on the first movie to shoot in Los Angeles since the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown began. Although the film and TV industry is still facing a time of great uncertainty as various production-related ventures are forced to shut down in order meet California’s guidelines on social distancing, the acclaimed filmmaker seems to have found a way around those rules by making a thriller set in the time of a pandemic.

Harvey Weinstein's extradition to Los Angeles to face an additional set of sex crime charges has been delayed, according to reports. A spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has reportedly confirmed that the coronavirus pandemic is the reason for the delay.

An additional 47 people have died in Los Angeles County from COVID-19 illness over the past 24 hours for a total of 1,755 deaths thus far in the pandemic, it was announced Friday. With residents having increased access to testing in recent weeks, more than 282,000 residents have been tested and 11 percent have tested positive.

The Los Angeles County Fair has been canceled, prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic, it was announced Thursday. The move marks only the second time in the event's history that it has been canceled.

An additional 51 people have died in Los Angeles County from COVID-19 illness over the past 24 hours for a total of 1,709 deaths thus far in the pandemic, it was announced Thursday. One individual who died was an inmate at the Terminal Island federal prison, the eighth person there to fall victim to the coronavirus.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Los Angeles County’s stay-at-home orders will “with all certainty” be extended for the next three months, Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer informed the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Tuesday.

Hiking to the Hollywood sign and hitting the links is being allowed Saturday as the California county hardest hit by the coronavirus cautiously reopened some sites to recreation-starved stay-at-homers. Los Angeles County permitted the reopening of trails and golf courses, but with social distancing restrictions.

As florists, golf courses and trails open across Los Angeles County today, Public Health director Dr. Barbara Ferrer remained cautiously optimistic about moving into phase two of the area’s COVID-19 recovery plan.
