Lorraine Kelly has quit a popular social media platform a day after recalling the “uncomfortable” moment Russell Brand touched her leg on TV. The iconic daytime TV presenter, 63, announced she was taking a break from X - formerly known as Twitter - less than 24 hours after she revisited the occasion she appeared on The Graham Norton Show alongside the 48 year old comedian in 2007. As well as touching her thigh, Russell also called Lorraine a “s**t” on the BBC programme 16 years ago.
Lorraine addressed the old incident on her ITV show on Wednesday after allegations of rape and sexual assault were made about Russell at the weekend. On Thursday morning, she tweeted: “Morning. Having a twitter break - its all gone a bit dark - find me on instagram @lorrainekellysmith for mostly cute photos of my dog.” Fans responded to the presenter’s tweet with messages of support.
One wrote: “I have to say I agree with you Lorraine.” Another added: “Don't blame you but it's a shame that you need to.” A third said: “Totally agree.” In their appearance on The Graham Norton Show together in 2007, Russell was asked a question about his movie work.
