Lorde, Sløtface, Róisín Murphy lead latest names for Øya Festival 2023

After snagging the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards earlier this year, you’d assume that Evan Peters is the frontrunner to take the Emmy Award for his role in Netflix’s blockbuster streaming hit “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.” And the Television Academy has already demonstrated its love for the Ryan Murphy mainstay after he took the Supporting Actor trophy in this field for “Mare of Easttown” in 2021.

Some of the most high-profile Manchester companies are among those to have been shortlisted for this year's MEN Business Awards.

Sophia Scorziello editor The Sun Valley Film Festival announced their 2023 award winners, with National Geographic’s Documentary “Wild Life” taking home the audience award, “Fancy Dance” winning best narrative and “Nascondino” earning the documentary feature film prize. The annual Idaho Awards Bash took place from March 29 to April 2 at Whiskey Jacques.   In addition to the film awards, the festival hosted a performance by Blair Gun and Variety honored this year’s 10 Producers to Watch. Other highlights include Josh Brolin receiving the Vision award, Emilio Estevez receiving the Pioneer award, Sophie Thatcher receiving the Rising Star award and Nina Yang Bongiovi receiving the Creative Impact Honoree in Producing.

With Series Mania 2023 coming to a close, the event’s founder and general director Laurence Herszberg announced the winners of the Series Mania Festival today.

Thania Garcia Pussy Riot, the Russian feminist protest music and performance art group, will be accepting the 2023 Woody Guthrie Prize on May 6 in Tulsa at Cain’s Ballroom. The evening will conclude with Pussy Riot’s first-ever U.S. performance of “Riot Days,” a multi-media show that showcases the group’s music with documentary footage and political commentary. Members Maria “Masha” Alyokhina and Nadya Tolokonnikova will accept the prize on behalf of Pussy Riot, which also will be represented by founders Olga Borisova and Diana Burkot. Following the presentation by Nora Guthrie, Woody Guthrie’s daughter, the group will be interviewed by Robert Santelli, executive director of the Bruce Springsteen Archive and Center for American Music.

Aphex Twin, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Slowthai leading the new batch of acts on the line-up.The Portugal festival brings a close to the summer season and will take place between August 31 and September 2.Held in Lisbon’s Bela Vista Park, Aphex Twin joins the previously announced Arcade Fire and Florence + The Machine as headliners, as well as a host of others – find tickets here.Alongside Aphex Twin, American indie band Yeah Yeah Yeahs are also set to perform, as well as British rapper Slowthai and Foals. It has not yet been confirmed which days the acts will perform.Lil Yachty, José Gonzalez and Belle & Sebastian are all set to hit the stage, as is pop icon Siouxsie – who was formerly part of Siouxsie And The Banshees.

The nominations for the BAFTA TV Awards 2023 have been confirmed. The 69th annual TV awards will be held in May, and the full list of shows, actors and writers who have earned a nod has been announced.

BBC series This Is Going to Hurt and The Responder lead the nominations at the Bafta television and craft awards with six each.The broadcaster was the clear leader ahead of the ceremony in April with a total of 81 nominations across both TV and craft categories, while Channel 4 was second with 33, Netflix has 24 and ITV 19.This year’s categories also included first-time nominations for acting heavyweights Cillian Murphy, Gary Oldman, Daniel Radcliffe and Taron Egerton. Dark medical comedy This Is Going To Hurt, based on the best-selling book of the same name by Adam Kay, has among its nominations Ben Whishaw for leading actor and a nod for best mini-series.

Aphex Twin and Erykah Badu are heading up the line-up for this year’s Forwards Festival.The “festival for forward thinkers” will return to Bristol’s Clifton Downs from September 1-2 after making its debut last year.Bonobo, RAYE, Confidence Man, Olivia Dean, Biig Piig and Wesley Joseph are set to perform on the Friday, with Aphex Twin topping the bill. Meanwhile, the Saturday will see the likes of Primal Scream, Arlo Parks, Leftfield and Amyl and the Sniffers play.

Stormzy and Dua Lipa are set to make guest appearances at Hay Festival 2023.The famed literary event’s 36th spring edition is due to take place in Hay-on-Wye in Powys, Wales between May 25 and June 4. It’ll boast over 500 in-person sessions over that 11-day period.Per a press release, Hay “is the world’s leading festival of ideas, bringing readers and writers together in sustainable events to inspire, examine and entertain”.This year’s programme will launch the best new fiction and non-fiction titles, while offering insight and debate around major global issues.
