During the “Chicago Med” finale on Wednesday, original star Nick Gehlfuss made his final appearance — one of the many exits that has happened over the last year in the Dick Wolf procedurals. During the Season 11 “Chicago Fire” finale, Mouch (played by Christian Stolte, who has been on the series since 2012 debut) was hit by shrapnel during a call with a live shooter. After being rushed to the hospital, the firehouse was alerted that it wasn’t a bullet and that he was alert and recovering. However, in the final moments of the episode, Herrmann (David Eigenberg) was by Mouch’s side when he realized that he was looking pale. He looked down and saw that Mouch had been bleeding — and then flat-lined. As the camera panned out, it became clear why the title of the episode was “Red Waterfall,” as blood ran off the side of Mouch’s hospital bed and Herrmann screamed for a doctor.

Chicago Med is down one more doctor following the season 8 finale of the popular NBC series.

The actor, who has portrayed Dr. Will Halstead on all eight seasons of “Chicago Med,” has exited the series, making his final appearance on Wednesday night’s Season 8 finale. As Will left the hospital following the many changes at Gaffney, he reunited with his ex-fiancée, Natalie (Torrey DeVitto, who made a surprise appearance in the episode after leaving at the end of Season 6). “It was a difficult decision, but ultimately, I felt I’d taken Dr. Halstead as far as I can go with him. I think that comes down to a creative part of you, or the energy or spirit you have that you’re either built for a very long time with one person or not,” Gehlfuss tells Variety. “I am attracted to the profession for the variety in it, and eight years is a long time. It’s two college degrees! I’m joking now that I basically have a doctorate in television.”

The CW revealed three more unscripted series after presenting its fall schedule.

Virgin River fans will have to wait a little longer for Season 5, which will premiere this fall, Netflix announced in conjunction with its first ever upfront presentation Wednesday. And there is more news about the popular romantic drama, starring Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson — it is getting an early Season 6 pickup.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter “Virgin River” has been renewed for Season 6 at Netflix. The announcement was made as part of Netflix’s first ever upfront presentation to advertisers. It comes before Season 5 of the popular drama series has even set a premiere date, though it is expected to air in the fall. “Virgin River” was renewed for both Seasons 4 and 5 back in 2021, with Season 4 debuting in July 2022. The series is based on the Robyn Carr book series of the same name. The cast of the series includes Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole, Colin Lawrence, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Lauren Hammersley, Grayson Gurnsey, Sarah Dugdale, Zibby Allen, and Marco Grazzini.

BreAnna Bell “The Conners,” “The Bachelor,” and “American Idol” have each been renewed at ABC. The shows join a list of nine total renewals including “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (season 34), “Bachelor in Paradise” (season 9), “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” (season 4), “Celebrity Jeopardy!” (season 2), “Not Dead Yet” (season 2), “Shark Tank” (season 15). The news comes on the heels of several cancellations including “Big Sky,””Alaska Daily,” and “The Company You Keep” (the latter shows were axed after just one season). Announcements for “The Rookie: Feds,” and “Home Economics” will be revealed at a later date. The “Conners” will return for a sixth season. The show’s Season 5 finale, which aired on May 3, scored a 0.45 rating among adults 18-49 and 3.6 million viewers during its 8 p.m. timeslot, ultimately defeating the series finale of “The Goldbergs,” which earned a 0.30 rating among the key demo and drew in 2.5 million total viewers as the show came to a close after 10 years on the network.

The Conners are sticking around at ABC. The series has been renewed for its sixth season, the network announced Tuesday.

Not Dead Yet is very much alive. ABC has renewed the hit workplace comedy series starring Gina Rodriguez for a second season. The news was announced Tuesday ahead of Disney/ABC’s upfront presentation in New York.

Netflix’s Alaskan survival series Outlast lives on for at least another season. Netflix has renewed the competition series for a second season.

The Masked Singer and I Can See Your Voice are both officially returning to Fox.
