As evinced already by its Toronto International Film Festival premiere, and the strong reactions it provoked—not to mention our caustic review—discussing and writing about the Midnight Madness movie “Shadow In The Cloud” can be a tricky and complicated affair.

Amid all the COVID-compromises and missed opportunities of this year's TIFF, one of the most unfortunate is that the fest's midnight-movie audience, always composed of more Regular Joe and Jane film-geeks than showbiz interlopers, won't be able to cram cheek-by-jowl into a theater and watch Roseanne Liang's Shadow in the Cloud.

Occasionally, in this line of work, you end up watching a movie bad enough to make you regret taking the assignment. Roseanne Liang‘s “Shadow in the Cloud” is a movie so bad, it made me regret choosing the profession.
