Bathgate golfing star Stephen Gallacher joins three other deserving locals who received medals in the King’s Birthday Honours.
Stephen, from Bathgate, who is the nephew of European Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher, has been awarded an MBE for services to Golf.
He said he was delighted to receive the honour, adding: “I am very proud to be awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List.
“Golf has given me so many amazing experiences, and I am very grateful to everyone who has been there to help and support me throughout. To Helen, Jack and Ellie, I would never have received this without you.”
Also receiving an MBE is Bathgate Bairn Elizabeth Fitzpatrick for her services to education.
Elizabeth as been the CEO of Playback Learning and Founding Chair of Playback Trust for the last 26 years. Playback Learning works with schools to raise aspirations and attainment of children and young people in relation to wellbeing and inclusion.
Elizabeth, a former pupil of St Mary’s primary and St Mary’s Secondary Schools, now lives in Edinburgh.
She said she is thrilled to win the award.
She said: “I am delighted to accept the award as this shines a light on the great work that Playback does in supporting all children and young people across our learning communities.”
Also receiving honours are Dr John Black Irving from Linlithgow, and June Vallance from Uphall Station, who were awarded Order of the British Empire (BEM) medals.
Dr Irving is treasurer of Mill Cottage Hut at Cairngorms National Park, treasurer of the Glen Brittle Memorial Hut on Skye and a member of, and lately chair, of Forth Valley Mountaineering Club. He has received his award for services to Outdoor Activities and Health in Scotland.
