Local elections across the UK will take place in May for more than 200 local authorities, including all 33 London boroughs and 34 metropolitan boroughs in England. In Greater Manchester, hundreds of candidates will be eager to win seats on the region's 10 councils.

Local councillors serve for a four-year term. Some councils elect all of their councillors at the same time every four years, while other councils elect just a portion of their councillors each time and hold elections more regularly.
