Lisandro Martinez provides injury hope to Manchester United after Argentina decision

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has been called up by Argentina despite being sidelined with a knee injury.
Martinez has been sidelined for the majority of this season with a foot injury he sustained last September. The injury caused the centre-back to be in recovery for nearly four months before he made his return for United in January.
The defender only played three Premier League games for United before he suffered a knee injury against West Ham on February 4. United confirmed that Martinez would be sidelined for a further eight to 10 weeks while he recovered from a medial collateral ligament injury in his knee.
That timeframe would put Martinez on track to return to Erik ten Hag's matchday squad in early April. Now an update has emerged that will provide a boost to the player and United.

On Tuesday it was confirmed that Martinez had been called up to the Argentina squad for their round of international fixtures this month. Argentina have friendly matches against El Salvador and Costa Rica on March 23 and 27, respectively.
The Daily Mail has reported that United have agreed to allow Martinez to travel to the United States, where Argentina will be playing their fixtures this month, to undergo the next stage of his rehab. It remains to be seen if the defender will play any part in the games against El Salvador or Costa Rica.
