Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Oscar Nomination Puts Him One Step Closer to EGOT

Laverne Cox had a bit of a verbal faux pas while hosting the red carpet for the 2022 SAG Awards. Thankfully, she didn’t talk about Bruno but she did slip up when trying to pronounce the hit Disney film Encanto. Instead, she called it “Enchanto” when talking to the film’s composer and Tony Award-winning artist Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The 2022 Screen Actors’ Guild Awards took place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California on Feb. 27, and the show opened with an adorably hilarious reunion between original Hamilton cast members Lin Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., and Daveed Diggs! The trio started by talking over each other in the “I’m an actor” segment to tell their stories within the SAG union before taking to the stage to kick off the show.

Lin-Manuel Miranda saw his second career Oscar nomination today in the Best Song Category for “Dos Oruguitas” from the Disney animated movie Encanto, putting him on track once again to reach EGOT status. Encanto counted three noms this morning overall with noms for Best Animated Feature and Germaine Franco’s Original Score.
