Lily Allen says her children 'ruined her career': 'You can't have it all'

Lily Allen has said her children “complete” her but have “ruined” her career.
The singer confessed that her kids 'totally ruined' her career and said that choosing her children over her work has cost her the singing career she'd worked so hard for. The pop star, who became famous with hits like Smile and The Fear, is mum to daughters Ethel, 12, and Marnie, 11, whom she shares with ex-husband Sam Cooper.
Now the singer has spoken out about the tough choice many women feel they have to make between their job or their kids.
The singer-turned-actress told the Radio Times Podcast: "My children ruined my career. I love them and they complete me, but in terms of pop-stardom, they totally ruined it.
I get really annoyed when people say you can have it all because, quite frankly, you can't." She then added: "Some people choose their career over their children and that's their prerogative, but my parents were quite absent when I was a kid. I feel like it left some nasty scars that I'm not willing to repeat on mine." Lily's dad Keith Allen, 70, left her film producer mum Alison Owen, 63, when she was just four years old.
Lily is now married to Stranger Things star husband David Harbour - but it was recently reported that they are 'living separate lives' after the singer seemed to have unfollowed him on Instagram.
The couple, who got hitched in 2020 following a whirlwind romance, have 'barely been together' for the past three months, it was alleged. Lily's extremely busy schedule saw her spend the summer starring in London's West End production of The Pillowman, while David remained at home in New York.
