‘Lilo & Stitch’: Zach Galifianakis Will Star In Disney’s Live-Action Remake From ‘Marcel The Shell With Shoes On’ Director

By now, you’ve heard that the boxing drama “Creed III” has been a massive hit—the number #1 movie at the box office this past weekend, already over $110 million worldwide—and that’s been a huge boon to actor Michael B. Jordan, who not only stars in the franchise but made his directorial debut with the third film in this franchise.

Now the pair are back with a new National Geographic documentary, “Wild Life.” Fresh off its surprise screening at the Telluride Film Festival last September, the doc gets another one at SXSW this weekend before hitting theaters and streaming this Spring.

The live-action hybrid stop-motion film recently picked up the Annie Award for indie feature as well as two other awards. Jenny Slate won the voice acting prize for her performance as Marcel while Slate, Dean Fleischer Camp, Nick Paley and Elizabeth Holm won for feature writing. Camp called on animation director Kirsten Lepore to help merge the worlds of animation and live-action. As Oscar voting closes on Tuesday, Camp and Lepore discussed bringing Marcel to life, collaborating and the film’s reception. Kirsten Lepore: I’ve had many texts and calls from friends who said that that was the first movie that their kids had ever seen in a movie theater. It was so wild and an honor.

Jordan Moreau The “Pokémon Detective Pikachu” sequel has finally caught a director. Jonathan Krisel, co-creator of “Portlandia,” is in negotiations with Legendary Entertainment to direct the sequel to the live-action “Pokémon” movie from 2019. Chris Galletta will write the script. Krisel co-created, wrote and executive produced IFC’s sketch comedy show “Portlandia,” which starred fellow co-creators Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein in a multitude of oddball situations around Portland, Oregon. He also co-created, wrote and directed FX’s “Baskets,” starring Zach Galifianakis as a rodeo clown. Previously, Galletta wrote the 2013 coming-of-age comedy “The Kings of Summer.”

The Simpsons: Hit & Run lead game designer Joe McGinn has said that he wants to see a remake of the 2003 classic, joining a growing list of the game’s developers who are calling for its return.Speaking to GamesRadar, McGinn shared that although he doesn’t know how likely it is, he “would love” to see a new revival of the cult classic driving game based on the animated Springfield family.While fans of the game have made their own Hit And Run remake using Unreal Engine 5, developer Radical Entertainment has never revisited its version of Springfield in an official capacity.However, McGinn isn’t the only one of Hit And Run‘s creators hoping for a remake. Back in 2021, The Simpsons co-showrunner Matt Selman admitted that a Hit And Run remake would be a “complicated corporate octopus,” but said he would “love” for it to happen.Prior to that, producer Vlad Ceraldi said it would be “wonderful” to update the game for modern audiences.As for Hit And Run‘s enduring legacy, McGinn told GamesRadar that he remains “proud” of what Radical Entertainment created.“I am very surprised and pleased that people still love the game,” shared McGinn.

In “An Irish Goodbye,” estranged brothers Lorcan and Turlough are brought back together following their mother’s death, and Turlough must take care of his younger brother, who has Down syndrome. Lorcan will not leave their farm until they complete all 100 items on their mother’s bucket list. Co-director Ross White tapped into his observations from working in a special education school. “There can be this lack of cynicism with people with Down syndrome, a sort of openness and an honesty and purity about the way they see the world,” he says. The film depicts the brothers’ respective responses to death: “You’ve got this one character who is coping with this in a very emotionally open way, and then you’ve got his brother who is a bit more of a typical masculine response,” says White.

Back in 2020, Disney announced plans for a live-action remake of “Lilo & Stitch”, the 2002 animated hit about a young Hawaiian girl who befriends a fun-loving alien creature named Stitch.

Zach Galifianakis has been cast in Disney’s live-action “Lilo & Stitch” feature, TheWrap has confirmed. We’ve heard he will be playing Pleakley, the alien character originally voiced by Kevin McDonald and animated by Ruben A.
