Jonathan Krisel in Talks to Direct ‘Pokémon Detective Pikachu’ Sequel for Legendary

The Pigeon Detectives have announced their upcoming album, ‘TV Show’, and revealed a series of record store performances across the UK.Due for release on July 7, the album will be the band’s sixth studio release, following on from 2017’s ‘Broken Glances’. A new restoration of Jonathan Demme’s one-of-a-kind 1984 Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense is underway via A24, the production company announced Thursday (March 16). It hits theaters August 18, alongside a deluxe reissue of its soundtrack (via Rhino) featuring previously unheard takes from the four December 1983 L.A.

Angelique Jackson Academy Award-nominee Barry Keoghan is circling his next high-profile role, with the actor in negotiations to join Ridley Scott’s untitled “Gladiator” sequel. If the deal closes, Keoghan would join fellow 2023 Academy Award nominee Paul Mescal, who is set to star in the Paramount Pictures film. Keoghan is in negotiations to play Emperor Geta. Paramount Pictures has dated the film for November 22, 2024. Scott returns to direct the film, which follows 2000’s “Gladiator,” which was nominated for 12 Academy Awards, winning five including best picture. David Scarpa is penning the script. Scott will also produce with Michael Pruss via Scott Free and Doug Wick & Lucy Fisher via Red Wagon Entertainment. Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are executive producing. Also returning from the original film are cinematographer John Mathieson, production designer Arthur Max and costume designer Janty Yates.

Talking Heads‘ Stop Making Sense documentary is returning to cinemas 39 years on from its original release.The film, directed by Jonathan Demme, captured the band at the height of their powers in 1983. Stop Making Sense was shot in Hollywood at the Pantages Theater, with the band touring in support of their fifth album, ‘Speaking in Tongues’.The entire concert was a tightly choreographed production and something unique at the time.

Jordan Moreau The “Pokémon Detective Pikachu” sequel has finally caught a director. Jonathan Krisel, co-creator of “Portlandia,” is in negotiations with Legendary Entertainment to direct the sequel to the live-action “Pokémon” movie from 2019. Chris Galletta will write the script. Krisel co-created, wrote and executive produced IFC’s sketch comedy show “Portlandia,” which starred fellow co-creators Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein in a multitude of oddball situations around Portland, Oregon. He also co-created, wrote and directed FX’s “Baskets,” starring Zach Galifianakis as a rodeo clown. Previously, Galletta wrote the 2013 coming-of-age comedy “The Kings of Summer.”
