With warmer weather on the horizon and with a mini-heatwave set to cover parts of the UK, it’s well and clear that summer is on its way. And while the hotter weather may have us flocking to our gardens or thinking about celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style, we’re not the only ones who are fans of the hotter temperatures. In fact the warmer springtime weather is enough to wake bees from their hibernation, causing them to head to parks and woods in search of pollen and nectar.
As a result, and in celebration of World Bee Day on Friday May 20, Lidl is giving away free packs of mixed annual flower seeds in its stores up and down the country to encourage eco-conscious shoppers to create safe spaces for bees. Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter. Anyone wanting to pick up the promotion should simply head down to the budget supermarket on Friday and ask for a free pack at the checkout where Lidl staff will be more than happy to help.
However, it’s important to note that the mixed annual flower seed packets are subject to availability and are limited to one pouch per customer. But besides giving out free seeds, the supermarket chain is also encouraging its shoppers to do their bit for the buzzing creatures by planting a range of other nectar-producing blooms too. As part of its latest range, which is in stores now, customers can snap up various biodiversity-boosting plants to help bees pollinate our green gardens.
