Lewis Capaldi has been branded an inspiration by fans after announcing he would be taking another break from touring following Glastonbury.
The Scots singer apologised to fans profusely throughout his Glastonbury set on Saturday evening as he was losing his voice and struggling with his vocals. Lewis, 26, could been seen looking visibly frustrated throughout the set as he made a heartbreaking announcement to the crowd.
The Bruises hitmaker recently took time off in the lead-up to the festival to focus on his mental health and told fans on stage he would likely be taking another extended break following the performance.
"Look I'm really sorry before we go any further, because this is a pain in the arse," he said. "You've all come out and I'm apologising that my voice is f***ing packing in. Glastonbury I'm really sorry, I'm a bit annoyed with myself here.
"I recently took three weeks off, just because I've been non-stop since the start of the year and wanted a break for my head and my mental health. I wanted to come back and do Glastonbury because it's so incredible and I just want to thank you all for coming out.
"I was shit scared but you really made me feel at ease. I'm really sorry, I hope they will let me back on even though it's been a sh**show.
"I feel like I'll be taking another break over the next few weeks so you probably won't see me for the rest of the year. But when I do come back and I do see you I hope you’re up for watching."
Fans watching the BBC coverage at home took to Twitter to encourage Lewis following the performance as fans dubbed him an inspiration. One penned: "How brave is Lewis Capaldi? His ticks are severe but he perseveres and entertains a massive crowd. It’s clearly hard for him. He’s inspiring.
