Mitchell Ryan has sadly passed away.
The actor – best-known for playing the villainous heroin-smuggling General Peter McAllister in the first Lethal Weapon movie – died at the age of 88 on Friday (March 4).

Mitchell died of congestive heart failure at his home in Los Angeles, his stepdaughter Denise Freed shared with The Hollywood Reporter.
Along with his role in Lethal Weapon, Mitchell was also best known for playing ex-con Burke Devlin on Dark Shadows, rich boozy dad Edward Montgomery on Dharma & Greg and Shorty Austin in the Lee Marvin-Jack Palance Western Monte Walsh.
After news of Mitchell‘s death broke, his former Dark Shadows co-star Kathryn Leigh Scott took to Facebook to remember him.
“My sweet, beloved friend Mitch died early this morning,” Kathryn wrote. “He was a great gift in my life. I cherish my warm memories of his beautiful soul. I’m heartbroken.”
Along with Denise, Mitchell is also survived by his wife Barbara, grandchildren Ashley, Jacqueline, Olivia, Kaila, and Noah, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, and sister-in-law Mary.
