Zack Sharf Jack Black has gone viral on social media thanks to a clip of him serenading a young “School of Rock” fan diagnosed with a rare illness. The two met at the Layla Paige and Friends Walk for TrinityKids Care, which Black hosts each year to raise funds for child hospice programs in Southern California. A clip shared by Upworthy shows Black singing a “School of Rock” song to Abraham, a 15-year-old with a rare mitochondrial disease called Pearson syndrome. The video earned over 1.5 million views on Twitter in a single day. The TrinityKids Care fundraising event took place on Oct. 8. Abraham’s mother told Upworthy, “It’s almost been a week since the meet and Abraham is still talking about how he got to meet Jack.” Because her son is a big fan of “School of Rock,” she arranged a meeting with Black during the event.

Police in Stockton, California announced that a suspect has been arrested in relation to six murders and one shooting since April 2021. Stockton City Manager Harry Black announced that Wesley Brownlee, 43, was arrested while he was armed and on a "mission to kill" another victim.

An Alaskan Husky became sick after recently ingesting meth during a walk in San Jose, as California grapples with drug-fueled homeless encampments throughout the state. 10-year-old Loki was out with his owner in South San Jose when he sniffed around bushes and brush that contained traces of meth. Loki's owner David Espinal believes the pooch accidentally ate the lethal substance somewhere in the bushes.

Los Angeles police released chilling surveillance video showing a man kidnapping a 14-year-old at a park in El Sereno before allegedly forcing the victim into a bathroom and sexually assaulting the teen.  Edward William Banks, 27, was arrested on Tuesday and is currently held on $1 million bail on the charge of aggravated kidnapping to commit rape.  The case will be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said. The California cities of San Bernardino, Oakland and Los Angeles have been ranked among the state’s most dangerous cities, according to a new study from WalletHub. "Threats to safety in the U.S. come in many forms, from the continued presence of the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters to mass shootings and traffic accidents," WalletHub’s financial writer Adam McCann said, describing the intent of the study.

A woman who survived being a victim of a suspected serial killer believed to be linked to multiple deaths in and around Stockton, California said police investigators didn't take her seriously when she reported the attack and acted as if they "just didn’t care."  In an interview with 209 Times, Natasha LaTour said she told authorities about the night she nearly died on April 16, 2021. She was living in a tent in Stockton when around 3 a.m., she heard the sound of crunching gravel.  When she got out of the tent, a dark figure approached her.The assailant was wearing a black surgical mask and pointed a gun one-handed at her, she told the news publication.

Rescue divers in Arizona recovered the body of a California man who went missing Saturday after he jumped into Lake Havasu and never resurfaced, authorities said Sunday. Responding deputies immediately deployed divers into the water but the searchers were unable to locate the victim, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said. Officials described conditions as difficult during the response, with winds gusting upwards of 40 mph and waves as tall as three feet.

A Georgia inmate is accused of stealing $11 million reportedly impersonated billionaires, including a California movie mogul, while inside a maximum-security lock-up. Arthur Lee Cofield Jr., a 31-year-old gang member serving 14 years for armed robbery, is accused of using contraband cell phones from inside the Georgia Department of Corrections’ Special Management Unit to impersonate California billionaire Sidney Kimmel and open a fraudulent bank account in his name.  Cofield allegedly arranged for $11 million to be wired from Kimmel’s Charles Schwab account to a company in Idaho for the purchase of 6,106 American Eagle one-ounce gold coins.
