Legendary Reopens China Office With Safety Measures In Place

The New England Patriots plane is flying much-needed coronavirus crisis medical supplies to Boston from China, CBS Boston reports. A Patriots spokesperson said the team's Boeing 767 went to Shenzhen, China Wednesday to pick up 1.2 million N95 masks, and it's now on its way back to the U.S.

Theatrical box office in the Asia-Pacific region fell 85 percent in the first two months of 2020, an unprecedented crash brought on by the emergence and explosive spread of the new coronavirus, says a new report from S&P Global Intelligence. As alarm over the virus radiated outwards from China in late January, many cinemas throughout the region shut down, audiences began avoiding those theaters that were still open, and distributors canceled scores of new releases.

Theatrical box office in the Asia-Pacific region tumbled a massive 85% in the first two months of the year. The coronavirus caused cinema closures, audience hesitation, and a halving of the number of film releases.

After two months of being shut down due to the rapid spread of coronavirus, Chinese officials announced Thursday that they are planning to reopen 205 cinemas on Saturday.

China has re-opened a portion of its cinemas as it emerges from its coronavirus shutdown. But they’re far from back to business as usual.

Research by Chinese ticketing agency Maoyan appears to show that Chinese people have not lost their taste for feature films during the recent coronavirus-enforced closure of cinemas.

Despite what the company called a “challenging” period, Chinese online publisher and TV producer China Literature completed its first year on the stock market with a 22% increase in profits to $156 million (RMB1.1 billion). It was rewarded with a 10% jump in its shares by midday Wednesday.
