FX is getting into the basketball drama series game.The network has ordered the limited series “The Sterling Affairs,” set to star Laurence Fishburne and Jacki Weaver. The series, which will span six episodes, is about the downfall of Los Angeles Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling amid the team’s drive to win a championship.Here’s the official logline: “’The Sterling Affairs’ tells the behind the scenes story of Doc Rivers and the Los Angeles Clippers’ quest to bring a championship to one of the historically worst franchises in all of sports during the impending downfall of the team’s owner, Donald Sterling, whose notoriously racist behavior is brought to light amid the power struggle between his wife of 60+ years, Shelly Sterling, and his mistress, V.
Stiviano.”Fishburne will play former Clippers head coach Doc Rivers, while Weaver will play Sterling’s wife, Shelly Sterling.Gina Welch serves as writer and executive producer of the series. Joe Otterson TV ReporterDavid Castañeda is the latest addition to the cast of the Natasha Lyonne & Rian Johnson series “Poker Face” at Peacock, Variety has learned exclusively.Lyonne will lead the drama series, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Stephanie Hsu also set to appear along with Castañeda. Plot and character details for the series are being kept largely under wraps, though sources say the show will follow a procedural format and see Lyonne’s character working to solve different murders in each episode.Castañeda is best known for his role in the hit Netflix series “The Umbrella Academy,” on which he plays Diego. The third season of the show is due out on June 22.

LONDON -- British author Jack Higgins, who wrote “The Eagle Has Landed” and other bestselling thrillers and espionage novels, has died. He was 92.Publisher HarperCollins said that Higgins died at his home on the English Channel island of Jersey surrounded by his family.Born Henry Patterson in in Newcastle, England, in July 1929, Higgins served in the military before studying sociology at the London School of Economics.
