Lady Gaga took an optimistic approach with her song selection to kick off Saturday night's (April 18) One World: Together at Home primetime benefit concert, performing Charlie Chaplin's uplifting classic "Smile" while sitting at her keyboard, surrounded by candles.
She put a jangly spin on the standard and emphasized the all-too-appropriate lyrics: "Smile, though your heart is aching/ Smile even though it's breaking/ When there are clouds in the sky/ You'll get by."

The two-hour-long show featured many A-lister music stalwarts come together virtually in order to pay tribute to the frontline staff working amidst the Coronavirus outbreak and to keep the audience entertained during the crisis.
Global Citizen's One World: Together at Home in partnership with WHO saw all the music stalwarts come together last evening in order to express gratitude towards people working on the frontline to combat the Coronavirus pandemic. The event co-organized by Lady Gaga, featured Jennifer Lopez, Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift, Rolling Stones, Oprah Winfrey, Camila Cabello, Billie Joel, Usher, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, and many other stars.
The best performance of the night during the One World: Together At Home special was saved for last – Celine Dion made a surprise appearance to perform “The Prayer” with some friends!

Kacey Musgraves contributed a subdued, moving performance of “Rainbow” to the One World: Together At Home concert on Saturday night (Apr. 18), offering a ray of hope to help viewers get through a difficult global period.The country-pop star gave “a sincere thank-you to all the people out there risking their lives” prior to the performance, in which she played “Rainbow” on piano as images of hand-drawn rainbows flashed across the screen.

Today, Global Citizen is holding One World: Together at Home, a special broadcast to celebrate and support frontline healthcare workers in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The two part broadcast begins with a six-hour digital livestream at 2 p.m. Eastern before a special televised broadcast at 8 p.m. Eastern, which will air on ABC, NBC, CBS, iHeartMedia, and other platforms. Everything has turned digital given the present day and age. But now that we are all stuck at home due to the ongoing Coronavirus crisis, other things that happened in person, including concerts and festivals, have also turned digital, and rightly so.
Apologies to any Taylor Kinney/Lady Gaga shippers out there who were secretly hoping for a reconciliation (er, just me?), but it looks like Gaga *very* happy with her new man Michael Polansky and wants to have a future with him.
