An additional 66 Los Angeles County residents have died from COVID-19 illness in the past 24 hours, it was reported Wednesday. That brings the total number of deaths across the county during the coronavirus pandemic to 729, with 89 percent of those patients suffering from underlying health conditions.
Another 46 people have died in Los Angeles County since Monday due to COVID-19 illness, bringing the total number to 663. For a second straight day, the number of newly diagnosed positive cases has increased significantly — Tuesday by 1,400, Monday by 1,491 — due to a backlog of cases, Dr.
Anywhere between 221,000 and 442,000 Los Angeles County residents could have been infected with the COVID-19 illness, per a newly released antibody study done in partnership between USC and the L.A. County Department of Public Health.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, (D-CA), told host Anderson Cooper that “Unless we test, we will never know the extent of the spread of the #coronavirus and the extent of the challenge for us to eradicate it. One day after reporting the highest number of fatalities across Los Angeles County during the coronavirus pandemic, the region has topped it once again by reporting 42 more deaths in a 24-hour period on Wednesday. Forty people lost their lives on Tuesday, with the total number of deaths across the county at 402 since the pandemic started.
Los Angeles County on Tuesday recorded its deadliest day yet during the coronavirus crisis with 40 more fatalities and 670 newly diagnosed cases. A total of 360 county residents have died from COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus, as the total number of positive cases tops 10,000, a new milestone for this unprecedented global pandemic that has claimed 125,476 lives across the U.S.
An additional 25 people have died from COVID-19 in Los Angeles County and there are 239 newly diagnosed cases as of Monday, marking the lowest daily increase reported over a 24-hour period since March 26. The total number of coronavirus cases countywide now stands at 9,420 as the area remains under strict Safer at Home guidelines through May 15.
