One day after reporting the highest number of fatalities across Los Angeles County during the coronavirus pandemic, the region has topped it once again by reporting 42 more deaths in a 24-hour period on Wednesday. Forty people lost their lives on Tuesday, with the total number of deaths across the county at 402 since the pandemic started.
Los Angeles County on Tuesday recorded its deadliest day yet during the coronavirus crisis with 40 more fatalities and 670 newly diagnosed cases. A total of 360 county residents have died from COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus, as the total number of positive cases tops 10,000, a new milestone for this unprecedented global pandemic that has claimed 125,476 lives across the U.S.
An additional 25 people have died from COVID-19 in Los Angeles County and there are 239 newly diagnosed cases as of Monday, marking the lowest daily increase reported over a 24-hour period since March 26. The total number of coronavirus cases countywide now stands at 9,420 as the area remains under strict Safer at Home guidelines through May 15.

Los Angeles County has officially extended the Safer at Home order through May 15, the L.A. County Department of Public Health revealed Friday at a press briefing held at the Board of Supervisors headquarters in Downtown Los Angeles.
An additional sexual assault charge was filed against Harvey Weinstein on Friday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced. The felony count of sexual battery by restraint stems from an incident that allegedly occurred at a Beverly Hills hotel in May 2010, according to authorities.
