Given so much time has passed, most of the “what if” legends of most superhero films are out there already. For Christopher Nolan’s “Batman Begins,” we all know that Cillian Murphy lost out to Christian Bale for the Batman role.

The 2024 Sundance Film Festival is officially underway and there were some big stars in attendance at the opening night gala!
Kristen Stewart, Robert Downey Jr., and director Christopher Nolan were among the major celebs who stepped out for the opening night party on Thursday (January 18) at DeJoria Center in Park City, Utah.
Also in attendance were Kristen‘s Panic Room co-star Jodie Foster with wife Alexandra Hedison, Kristen‘s Adventureland co-star Jesse Eisenberg, Top Gun: Maverick actor Danny Ramirez, Past Lives director Celine Song, and Christopher‘s wife, Oppenheimer producer Emma Thomas.
Kristen received the Visionary Award during the gala and Jesse presented it to her.
“People that make movies that finally find their way [to Sundance], they’re like, psychotic,” Kristen told People. “You have to be kind of crazy to go, ‘I’m telling you, this is a good idea.’ Against all odds, like, ‘This is probably not going to end up good for anyone, but we have to try.’ So when I was younger and worked with all of these incredible directors, they instilled this in me. I was so lucky. I was just a little tiny kid. And now, I’m like, ‘Don’t make a movie unless you have to.’”

Alex Ritman The 20th edition of the Glasgow Film Festival has landed one of Sundance’s most talked-about films for its opening night. “Love Lies Bleeding,” Rose Glass‘ queer romantic noir starring Kristen Stewart that earned critical acclaim in Park City, is set to raise the curtain on the event with its U.K.
bringing up “Twilight” now that Stewart has been an Oscar nominee, however we first learned in the vampire saga that the actress does infatuation very well. She effortlessly gives off an “I’d die without you” aura, and there is a tractor-beam power in her stares. Behind O’Brian’s wild eyes, meanwhile, is a person who could either kiss you or brutally stab you to death.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director Kristen Stewart‘s domination of the 2024 Sundance Film Festival continued at the Variety Sundance Cover Party presented by United Airlines, where Stewart was honored for her starring roles in two big festival premieres: “Love Me,” a post-apocalyptic romance film in which she stars opposite Steven Yeun, and “Loves Lies Bleeding,” an A24-backed crime thriller in which she played a reclusive gym manager who falls for a local bodybuilder. “It’s hard to get here,” Stewart told Variety at the party about returning to Sundance, where she has premiered more than a dozen movies throughout her career. “Not because it’s an established and elite film festival, but because it supports marginalized voices.
Kristen Stewart falls for a bodybuilder in “Love Lies Bleeding,” an electric (and violent) romance thriller that premiered Saturday night at Sundance Film Festival. Rose Glass (“Saint Maud”) directed the movie, which co-stars Katy O’Brian, Ed Harris, Dave Franco, Jena Malone and Anna Baryshnikov. O’Brian is no stranger to the world of bodybuilding, having done competitions in the past, so she didn’t struggle with the physical aspect of playing Jackie.
Robert Downey Jr. has claimed that the runaway success of Oppenheimer has become “a terrible tragedy” for its introverted director Christopher Nolan.Downey made the comments while presenting Nolan with the inaugural Trailblazer Award at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival in Utah, an honour which recognises the director’s contributions to independent filmmaking.“Confidentially, he needs his spirits lifted,” Downey joked.
Anyone who thought this year’s Sundance lineup was a bit ennui, didn’t see A24’s electric Love Lies Bleeding tonight at the Eccles Theatre in Park City, UT. The Rose Glass directed and co-written lesbian romance crime bender starring Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian, drew hoots and hollers and big cheers throughout in an ultraviolent, twisty and turny tale of familial revenge.
Kristen Stewart had an emotional moment at Sundance Film Festival. The seasoned actresses met up and took some photos together, providing viewer the opportunity to reminisce about their film “Panic Room,” which was released in 2002 and served as one of Stewart’s first film roles. Peter Debruge Chief Film Critic On the most literal level, Sam and Andy Zuchero’s “Love Me” is about the relationship between a buoy adrift at sea and a satellite circling the earth. The eccentric rom-com takes place in a time after humans have gone extinct, when the surviving machines’ only references are a massive hard drive’s worth of data combed from search engines and social media sites.
PARK CITY – Whatever your thoughts on Sam and Andy Zuchero’s “Love Me” few will dispute that for an independently financed film it’s a unique and creative achievement. At least a third of the movie is CG animation, another third is motion capture animation, and the final portion is live action.

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Robert Downey Jr. trekked to Sundance Film Festival‘s opening night gala to reveal that a “terrible tragedy” has befallen Christopher Nolan. But don’t worry about the filmmaker behind “Oppenheimer.” His hardship is really just a bad case of the blues, and it’s because Nolan — as Downey explained on Thursday while bestowing Nolan with the first-ever Trailblazer Award — “has become recognizable on the street.” According to Downey, the critical and commercial success of “Oppenheimer” causes the British director to recoil, “as though from a hot flame, from this new and unwelcome reality.” Well, Nolan may not be retreating from the spotlight anytime soon.
“It’s a quarter of a century later, and I’m still f*cking being discovered by Sundance,” beamed Christopher Nolan tonight at the Sundance Film Festival Opening Night Gala as he received the inaugural Trailblazer award.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director Rob Lowe might want to double check who he is sending text messages to in the future. During a recent visit to “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” the ” 9-1-1: Lone Star” actor revealed that he accidentally texted Bradley Cooper a congratulations for winning a Golden Globe thinking the message was going to Robert Downey Jr. The mishap was a bit awkward considering Cooper was nominated for a golden globe for “Maestro” but lost the best actor in a motion picture drama category to Cillian Murphy from “Oppenheimer.” “Downey does this amazing acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, and I’m so excited for him so I text him, ‘So glad you won.
Golden Globes win. “Downey does this amazing acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, and I’m so excited for him so I text him, ‘So glad you won. That is the most beautiful acceptance speech I’ve heard in a long time.
Robert Downey Jr. got an amazing honor on Sunday night… and he used it to get petty revenge for bad reviews. Stars really are just like us! LOLz!
