‘Kohrra’ Indian Noir Series Is a Hit for Netflix, Powered by Experienced Crime Drama Team

The 12-part show uses the premise that a text message is sent to ordinary citizens who get to vote for or against the application of the death penalty in individual criminal cases. If more than 50% vote in favor, the criminal is killed by a mysterious character called Dog Mask.

Hulu, there’s plenty for fans of the original show to dig into.But if you missed the first incarnation of “Justified,” “City Primeval” stands on its own without much confusion, since it’s an isolated story set outside of Kentucky with no obscure side characters or plotlines from the original series. Tjahjanto is one half of a writing-directing pair with Kimo Stamboel that are colloquially known as the Mo Brothers and previously delivered “Headshot.” However, it was as a solo director that Tjahjanto (“May the Devil Take You Too,” “The Night Comes for Us”) was signed to a multi-film deal with Netflix in 2022. He delivered his first picture under that arrangement later that year. “The Big 4” debuted in Netflix’s non-English language top ten.
