Kirstie Allsopp has paid an emotional tribute to her TV co-star Phil Spencer's parents after they were tragically killed together in a car crash. The property expert is known to be very close to Phil, who she co-presents Location, Location, Location with. Phil's father, Richard, 89, and mother Anne, 82, tragically died on Friday lunchtime when the car they were travelling in crashed into a shallow river on their farm estate in Kent.
Kirstie confirmed their deaths when she told The Sun: “I’ve spoken to Phil and it’s tragic for the Spencer family, but his parents were together and that’s something that is a great source of solace to them all.The family is very loving and close. "There are four children, Phil, Robert, Caryn and Helen, and they had eight grandchildren." She added: "This is awful for all of the family, but they were together at the end and they were lovely people." Kirstie went on to say that Phil and his three siblings were "consoling each other" at such a difficult time.
Less than two weeks ago, Phil's sister, Helen, posted a snap of her and Phil's dad, Richard, to Instagram as she opened up about his dementia battle. He could be seen smiling at another man - the pub owner - who leaned over the table, with half a pint sat in front of him.
She captioned the post: "Took my 89 year old Dad to the pub for the first time in a year. He suffers from dementia and although he will NEVER forget the name of his favourite pub (!), he couldn't quite remember what he used to like to drink there.
