Before Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon debuted at Cannes, audiences had a preview of what his leading lady Lily Gladstone could do in the Sundance title Fancy Dance, in which she played a Native American aunt who would do anything to keep her family together. Family plays a big part in Scorsese’s adaptation of David Grann’s 2017 bestseller too; in his telling of the horrific true crimes committed against the oil-rich Osage people of Oklahoma. Gladstone’s real-life character, Mollie, marries Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and stumbles on a plot devised by her husband’s duplicitous uncle William King Hale (Robert De Niro) to kill her kinfolk for their money. Jazz Tangcay Artisans Editor Based on the nonfiction book by David Grann, “Killers of the Flower Moon” stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Ernest Burkhart, a WWI vet who travels to Oklahoma to work for his wealthy uncle, William King Hale, played by Robert De Niro. It’s the early 1920s, and this part of Oklahoma sits on lots of oil, whose rights are owned by the Native American Osage and other tribes. They are prosperous, some even rich, and it’s here that Ernest meets Mollie (Lily Gladstone).

Martin Scorsese‘s Western historical epic Killers of the Flower Moon on Wednesday was named Best Film by the National Board of Review, the second major awards honor for the Apple Original Films pic this week after it also won the top prize from the New York Film Critics Circle.

The New York Film Critics Circle anointed “Killers of the Flower Moon” as their Best Film of 2023 and now the National Board of Review has revealed their top pick, and, surprise, it’s also Martin Scorsese’s latest. Scorsese was also named Best Director and Lily Gladstone Best Actress by the New York City-based cinephile organization.

Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor “Killers of the Flower Moon” has been named best picture by the National Board of Review, the organization announced on Wednesday. Co-distributed by Apple Original Films and Paramount Pictures, the crime epic also nabbed prizes for director Martin Scorsese and actress Lily Gladstone.

The New York Film Critics Circle kicked off the annual year-end deluge of critics’ honors by announcing their best of 2023 today and the big winner was Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of The Flower Moon” which took Best Film. Christopher Nolan won Best Director for “Oppenheimer” while Celine Song’s “Past Lives” won Best First Film.
