Strictly Come Dancing fans were left devastated when it was announced that Giovanni Pernice had reportedly 'quit' the hit BBC show after nine years. This surprising move comes after tensions between the dancer and Sherlock star Amanda Abbington, 52, his celeb partner last year. She left the show in October, following a series of confrontations that left her in tears allegedly due to Giovanni's tough training method.
Since then, other previous dance partners of Giovanni - including Ranvir Singh, and Laura Whitmore - have reportedly voiced their concerns too. Now, Kerry Katona - who competed on Strictly 'rival' show Dancing on Ice - has issued a strong six word statement amid the controversy, and said that if allegations are true then: "I don’t think it’s right." In her exclusive column, the 43 year old said: "I’ve read about the ongoing drama with Giovanni Pernice and I’m not sure what to make of it. If there is truth to the allegations, then I don’t think it’s right.
"I understand taking your job seriously, but you can’t be too strict. People want to do better when you’re kind to them and treat them with respect. I had the most amazing partner in Daniel Whiston when I was on Dancing On Ice and it made me want to work harder.
I’d love to do Strictly – no one would dare shout at me, though!".
