Camila Cabello Defends Drake as ‘Such a Delight’ and Weighs In on Kendrick Lamar Beef: ‘It’s So Frustrating’

Thania Garcia There are many surprising elements to Camila Cabello‘s transitional fourth LP, “C,XOXO.” After dominating pop radio as a solo act with “Señorita” and “Havana,” Cabello’s new effort has her testing new territories that range from glitchy hyper-pop to trap-imbued club tracks. One of the most defining factors of the album has been its features: JT and Yung Miami (who have since called it quits as “the City Girls“) on “Dade County Dreaming”; PinkPantheress on “Pink xoxo”; Playboi Carti on the album’s lead single “I Luv It;” and Lil Nas X on the sultry “He Knows,” among others. Most striking of all are the pair of Drake features — “Hot Uptown” and “Uuugly” — that arrive in the throes of his loss to Kendrick Lamar.

Emily Eavis defends Glastonbury 2024 line-up: “There aren’t a lot of new rock acts to choose from if I’m honest”

Emily Eavis has defended Glastonbury’s line-up this year after criticism for a perceived lack of rock acts on the main stages. For 2024, dance-pop titan Dua Lipa, pop-rock staples Coldplay and US R&B star SZA are set to headline, with country-pop icon Shania Twain taking the legends slot. Among the other artists playing the main stages include Little Simz, Burna Boy, Disclosure, Jungle and The Streets. Some fans have complained about the lack of rock, but co-organiser Eavis – the daughter of Glasto founder Michael – has said that the main line-up simply reflects what’s going on in the music industry.“I think the line-up reflects what’s happening in the music world at the moment – there aren’t a lot of new rock acts to choose from if I’m honest,” she told PA.

Drake being sued by ’80s brand Members Only for using phrase

Drake is facing a lawsuit after clothing brand Members Only alleged tour merch he sold infringed upon their company trademarks. In a case filed on Tuesday (June 12), it was claimed that Drake’s company, Away From Home Touring Inc., had been selling shirts that read ‘Members Only’ on the recent ‘It’s All a Blur‘ Tour. The words seemingly reference his track ‘Members Only’ from 2023 album ‘For all the Dogs’ and are not imitations of the recognisable Members Only racer jackets that made the brand popular in the 1980s.However, Members Only lawyers have said (via Billboard): “The fact that ‘Members Only’ is a song on Drake’s album ‘For All the Dogs’ does not obviate the likelihood of confusion or give [Drake] a license to use our client’s ‘Members Only’ marks in such a confusing manner, particularly on or in connection with apparel items.”They continued: “Away From Home’s use of ‘Members Only’ … is likely to cause confusion, mistake, and deception among consumers as to the origin of Away From Home’s infringing T-shirts.”Per Billboard, representatives for Drake have not yet responded to a request for comment. This is the latest legal battle facing the Canadian rapper, who recently was dismissed from lawsuits relative to Travis Scott‘s 2021 Astroworld festival disaster.

Shaheem Reid The fans congregating outside of the Kia Forum in Inglewood, CA on Wednesday afternoon before Kendrick Lamar’s Juneteenth concert — dubbed “The Pop Out” and headlined by “Ken & Friends” — seemed more like they were waiting for the 1985 NBA Finals game between the Lakers and Celtics than a hip-hop concert. While Lamar was obviously getting the overwhelming support from his home city, like Magic Johnson did during the “Showtime” Lakers’ run, Drake was getting Larry Bird-levels of disdain, and he wasn’t even in the building.
