Kelle Roos says on- form Aberdeen must return after the break in ruthless fashion to make rivals pay at home and abroad.
The Dons have gone five games unbeaten, albeit their last two have been frustrating draws. Roos knows they let Europa Conference League foes HJK and top-flight counterparts St Johnstone off the hook with missed chances at Pittodrie. And the big keeper admits that must end once the international action is out of the way, starting at home to Dundee in 11 days’ time.
Roos said: “We’ve shown we can take chances. We know we have great offensive players, great creators, in our team and we know we are going to score a lot of goals. But on Sunday I just think we left it too late to really give a platform for them to not get lucky, as such. On another day we take three points. But if we hit our standards earlier, they don’t stand a chance, really. Let’s be clear, we need to be better than we were on Sunday. But there are more than enough positives.
“It’s clear for everybody to see we play with our hearts on our sleeves, we work very hard, we’ve got a great, honest group who want to be good and get to where we all want to go.
"We want to play the big games and, at the same time, we want to climb the league, do the European stuff. Everyone is very hungry but we need to make sure that when the ball drops, we put teams to the sword.”
The Dutchman believes teams are now sitting deeper, trying to stop threats such as Bojan Miovski and Duk from getting in behind. Roos added: “That makes it harder to get the ball behind the backline and have space running.
“Obviously then, at that moment in time, we need to press in front of them, move from side to side quickly. Against St Johnstone we were maybe just a little bit too
