Katy Perry Says 'Daisies' Is an 'Anthem For Myself' After a Dark Time

Katy Perry released her record, Witness, in 2017, but it didn’t perform as well as she and her record label hoped, Yahoo Music reported today. According to the outlet, her album didn’t perform well commercially in comparison to some of her previous work, the result of which left her in a difficult position, mentally.

The 35-year-old revealed she was left clinically depressed after the release as she realised she had placed a lot of weight on getting validation for her music, reports metro.co.uk.

"This time has brought in some balance. Probably necessary balance. It is in a way good for me, to have brought to this kind of mindset because even after quarantine is done, and probably when everyone goes out and celebrates, I will be still at home," Perry said.

Katy Perry, 35, is speaking out about her battle with mental health. “I was clinically depressed and coming out of that, didn’t know what my life was,” the star revealed in a new interview with Good Morning America, reflecting on where she was two years ago. “I couldn’t really imagine living, to be completely honest,” she added, going on to explain that her struggles influenced her latest project.
