Kamala Harris Takes A Swipe At Kevin McCarthy Over His Joe Biden Age Comments, Declines To Comment On TikTok And X/Twitter

As an afternoon guest at The New York Times‘ DealBook Summit, Vice President Kamala Harris took a swipe at former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy‘s suggestion that President Joe Biden wasn’t really engaged in negotiations because of his advanced age.
Earlier on Wednesday, McCarthy suggested that Biden was not the same person he used to talk to, and that he read off of cards during negotiations during the debt ceiling crisis.
Of McCarthy, Harris said, “With all due respect, when anyone who has had the experience he has most recently had, I don’t think he’s a judge of negotiations.”
She added, “Age is more than a chronological fact. I spent a whole lot of time with our president, be it in the Oval Office or the Situation Room and in other places, and I can tell you … not only is he authoritative in rooms around the globe but in the Oval Office meeting with members of Congress, meeting leaders in industry, meeting with community leaders.”
McCarthy was ousted as House speaker in October.
Harris also addressed Biden’s dismal poll numbers, despite a period of record low unemployment and falling inflation.
“These are also macro-economic measures and don’t necessarily connect with the heart and the experience and the feelings of the American people,” she said. “For many Americans, prices are still too high, and we still have work to do to address that.” She cited the efforts to cap the cost of insulin, reduce student loan debt and allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices, but “our challenge is just to let folks know who brought it to them.”
Harris talked about Russian attempts to interfere in the 2016 election and said that “we should take very seriously the fact that not only individuals but nation states take very significant
